Future: Housing, Living, Working—Construction Sites Everywhere!

Construction sites everywhere, as far as the eye can see. This is what the real estate industry landscape looks like in 2026. Declining annual revenue in the primary construction sector, a drop in new orders, a drastic slump in building permits, and new regulations on the horizon. High interest rates, sluggish administrative and permitting processes, and a significantly weakening economy. And yet, construction costs continue to rise. All of this against the backdrop of ongoing economic and geopolitical uncertainty. But giving up is not the answer!

At this year’s edition of “Future: Living, Life, Work – Construction Sites Everywhere!”, we aim to provide food for thought on some of the most pressing challenges facing the real estate industry in Berlin and Brandenburg. To this end, we’ll be discussing with experts and practitioners—including Holger Friedrich, entrepreneur and publisher at Berliner Verlag, and Sebastian Blecke, managing director of GSG Berlin—what solutions already exist and what the medium-term outlook is for our industry.
