Henschel Areal – Public Information Event: 140,000 square meters of space for an urban area in the heart of Kassel.

On Tuesday, June 9, the final major public event regarding the zoning plan process took place. Over 300 interested—but also critical—attendees from the neighborhood and the city of Kassel were in attendance.

Mayor Dr. Schöller took the time throughout the evening, until almost midnight, to answer every question together with the attendees.

Representatives from city committees and many experts involved in the collaborative work on the zoning plan were also on site to explain the complex issues surrounding one of Kassel’s most exciting inner-city areas.

In Kassel?

Kassel is one of Germany’s hidden champions:

  • Centrally located in the heart of Germany, with strong connections via ICE trains, highways, and logistics networks.

  • A diverse economic structure encompassing industry, energy, mobility, and logistics, with strong small and medium-sized enterprises.

  • Many successful companies operate from Kassel in niche markets worldwide—quietly but effectively.

  • The university, research, and networks make Kassel a hub of innovation.

  • A high quality of life and ample available space help retain skilled workers—a key factor today—and support future growth.

These are the reasons behind the development of such a major investment in Kassel.
