Start of construction for future ABDA headquarters

The ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of construction work on the forthcoming Berlin headquarters of the ABDA - Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists. The “Mitte” district issued planning permission for the office building in mid-January. ABDA is expected to move into the approximately 6,400 square meter building in Berlin’s Europacity close to Berlin's Hauptbahnhof (main station) in 2019. The new location offers space for up to 130 employees. The BÜRO DR. VOGEL GMBH is supporting ABDA from purchase to completion.

The design of the eight-story building on Heidestraße was penned by the renowned Berlin Architects, Kleihues+Kleihues. The functionality of the building is tailored entirely to the needs and operation of a modern organization. The future ABDA headquarters will include a 300 square meter assembly hall, a cafeteria and a large conference space on the top floor. ABDA president, Friedemann Schmidt: “With the new building, we will get an environment in which we will be able to organize our work efficiently and cope with the growing requirements of the association." Furthermore, after the completion of the building designed as a “green building”, the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) certification will be sought.

Following completion of the contruction work, ABDA will initially move into the building as a tenant and take ownership thereafter. The transaction advisory services, assessment of the development and the implementation on the part of the ABDA are being carried out by the Berlin consultancy company, BÜRO DR. VOGEL GMBH, accompanied in legal respects by Schwenke & Schütz und RAUE LLP. The project involves a total investment volume of around 35 million Euro.
